Chondroepiphyseal detachment (or epiphyseal detachment) is a traumatic lesion typical and exclusive to growing bone, which occurs along the growth cartilage , i.e. the area where the bone growth germ cells are located, which make physiological growth possible, and which are ubiquitous in the skeleton of children.

Depending on the type of injury, the child’s age, the anatomical location, the timing and type of treatment, these injuries can cause permanent and progressive growth alterations , which are clinically evident with bone deformities , with consequent alterations in the functionality of the affected area.

These lesions are characterized according to the Salter-Harris classification , based on cartilage involvement.

Treatment can be either conservative or surgical , depending on the diagnosis. In acute lesions, the timing of intervention is prognostic.

The treatment of the outcomes is surgical, also in this case an early diagnosis is prognostic.
